Attorney General Greg Zoeller spoke with lawmakers at the Monroe County Courthouse on Wednesday.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller says he’s happy with the support he received from the general assembly this session as his office continues to battle a growing prescription drug abuse problem.

Zoeller spoke with lawmakers Wednesday in Monroe County, highlighting an amendment to the state’s Lifeline law that encourages first responders to be equipped with a medication called Naloxone that can be used to treat a Heroin overdose.

“Its nasal so you spray it into the victim’s nose and it’s immediate, so it could really be a great life-saving tool and something that we thank the legislators for providing this type of statute so we can quickly get help to people,” Zoeller says.

Zoeller also heralded an expansion of the Lifeline law that extends immunity to underage callers who seek help from police or emergency responders in the event of an overdose, sexual assault or other crime.
