Some details have been firmed up for two debates between 9th District congressional candidates Todd Young and Shelli Yoder.
The first will be held at Franklin College’s Theatre Margot on Oct. 23 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The other takes place six days later in Corydon, but the campaigns differ on where.
Yoder campaign manager Katie Carlson says she believes it will be at Corydon High School, but an earlier announcement from the Young campaign said the private business O’Bannon Publishing would host. Carlson says a panel of Franklin students will filter questions for the first event and all questions for the Corydon debate will also be audience-generated.
Young campaign manager Trevor Foughty says he expects jobs, the economy and military spending will be the focus of the debates.
“We are looking forward to a spirited discussion of the issues, where we talk about plans for moving our country forward,” he says. “And that’s certainly going to be our focus.”
Carlson says Yoder has also been making lunchtime stops at most of the other counties in the district in an effort to connect with voters.
