Sears Holdings announced earlier this week that it would close up to 120 stores nationwide.
One Kmart store is closing in Indianapolis, plus another Kmart in St. John and a Sears store in Anderson as part of the shutdowns announced by Kmart’s parent company earlier this week. Sears Holdings released a list of 79 Kmart and Sears stores that will close as part of the company‘s plan to shutter up to 120 stores.
There is no word yet on an exact timetable for the closings. No stores are closing, at least not yet, in neighboring Illinois. Less than two weeks ago, the Illinois legislature essentially exempted sears holdings from a huge tax increase that‘s hitting other businesses in that state in an effort to keep the company from moving its headquarters out of Chicago.
