The Department of Education is working to get the School Choice Program up and running.
After the Indiana General Assembly passed legislation earlier this year to create the School Choice Program, the Department of Education has been working to get the program up and running. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett said the department has received a lot of attention from schools hoping to participate: “To date, we have over a hundred who have gone through the process, and we think that number will continue to rise.”
Parents and school representatives can go to www.doe.in.gov/schoolchoice to find out more about the program, including eligibility requirements. A link there leads to a list of schools that have already been approved, which will be updated weekly.
