With sunny skies and highs in the upper eighties, it looks to be a good weekend for bikers all over the Midwest to descend on Bloomington and Bedford for the 31st annual Boogie, a motorcycle enthusiast festival held in Lawrence County.
According to Jim Markland of Bloomington Harley Davidson, rides are scheduled for all over the area.
“We’ve got ride maps sending people through Brown County, through Daviess County, Orange County, around the Lake is another real popular one,” he said.
Markland says many people do not see the positive economic impact this many bikers have on the area.
“We kinda get a bad rap sometimes,” he said, “with regard to being the bikers. In reality, it’s a really nice bunch of people. A lot of local people come to the dealership to meet people. They’re spending money in the restaurants and hotels. Its hard to get a hotel right now, its kinda like the Old Oaken Bucket game trying to get a hotel in Bloomington.”
All weekend bikers will be riding to Bloomington, Bedford, Brown County and the Boogie.
