Ask The Mayor

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett

A change to the city's assessed valuation may only strengthen Mayor Bennett's push to have more local control over raising revenue.

Mayor Bennett says he’s not sure how he’s going to find an estimated $2-3 million his city will lose in property tax revenues after a sharp drop in the assessed values of homes in his city.  It’s one reason he’s joining in a push by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns for more local taxing power.

Also, the mayor casts his ballot for a New York Giants punter.  But why?
