Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight says that a budget deficit will require some adjustments. Four firefighters have been laid off and the city council members receive little compensation. The mayor says that this makes it difficult for anyone under a certain income level from serving.
Goodnight also discusses how the arts have been a very effective economic development tool in Kokomo. There are on-going private discussions about an arts center for the city and a possibility of state or federal funds to support the development of the center.
