Join WTIU for a unique day trip to Madison, Indiana. For a membership contribution of $120, you will receive round-trip bus transportation to and from Madison, Indiana. Together with fellow members of this public television station, we’ll experience the rich history Madison, Indiana has to offer. And your guide for the day will be Jim Madison, author of Hoosiers: A New History of Indiana, who was recently named an Indiana Living Legend by the Indiana Historical Society. With 133 blocks historically designated as a national landmark, Madison is a city made for history lovers. And Jim Madison has handpicked a collection of sites he’s looking forward to sharing with you. We’ll visit Lanier Mansion, the “crown jewel” of Madison’s Historic District, and encounter history as it was in the 1840’s – when America was still young and the Ohio River was the gateway to the west.
