    GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC/COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

    DESCRIPTION:

    Public/Community Service Announcements are brief announcements of matters of concern to the community. They are broadcast throughout the day, predominantly from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Approved events will be posted on the Indiana Public Media website, and read on air as time and space allow.

    The Events page features cultural and community events in our local communities. Listings are collected from site visitors, art organizations, venues, and other non-profit organizations. Events must be open to the public. All submissions will be reviewed and approved by an editor at Indiana Public Media before appearing on the site. Indiana Public Media reserves the right to edit any submissions. We do not, however, check the details of the event, and Indiana Public Media is not responsible for inaccurate information submitted. Please contact the station if you notice inaccurate information in event listings.

    Indiana Public Media gives emphasis to events such as performances, lectures, concerts, exhibits, public meetings, volunteer activities, and educational, recreational and health-oriented opportunities.

    Indiana Public Media also broadcasts informative, non-event-oriented announcements on topics of community interest and welfare, such as AIDS awareness, child abuse hotlines, animal spaying/neutering, etc.

    LIMITATIONS:

    Religious services are not announced, although community-oriented events that are sponsored by religious organizations (e.g., concerts, peace vigils, panel discussions) are accepted.

    Indiana Public Media cannot include announcements for public demonstrations, rallys, or political fundraising events.

    In accordance with FCC regulations, Indiana Public Media does not announce price information, or copy (text) considered promotional in nature. Indiana Public Media reserves the right to interpret FCC guidelines and to apply them to submissions as Indiana Public Media sees fit.

    Due to on-air time limitations, Indiana Public Media cannot guarantee that all listings will be read on the air.

    Indiana Public Media cannot guarantee times or frequency.

    SUBMISSIONS:

    Information should be submitted through the Indiana Public Media "Events" page on the Indiana Public Media.org website. Materials submitted should contain all necessary information, including date, time, and place, sponsoring organization or agency, and contact person's name and phone number. All submissions are subject to Indiana Public Media approval.

    When entering events:

    • Make sure you select the proper category for the event.
    • Enter the event at least one week prior to event date.
    • Include your contact information so we can contact you in case there are questions.
    • Fill out all information required as completely as possible. Listings with missing information are less likely to get posted.

    Please submit information at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the event for radio, TWO WEEKS PRIOR for television. Announcements will be reviewed within 72 hours after receipt of submission. Indiana Public Media reserves the right to reject any material it deems not of public interest or inappropriate for any reason.

    Information can be submitted online (recommended), or by fax at (812) 855-5600, or by regular mail. Indiana Public Media does not accept PSA/CSA information over the phone.
