- Robert Schumann tried to send his father-in-law to prison for "defamation of character," after he sent a letter around town claiming Schumann was a drunk.
- When Johann Sebastian Bach tried to break his contract in Weimar and take a job elsewhere, he was thrown in jail for a month!
