Johann Christian Bach: Symphony Concertante

Can you guess this piece? Here’s a hint: A much older brother of P.D.Q.

Known as the “London” Bach, Johann Christian Bach found fame, fortune and a comfortable living during most of the twenty years he lived in that city. He directed the Queen’s Band, organized concerts for them, and gave music lessons to Queen Charlotte’s many children. Bach ALSO ACCOMPANIED KING GEORGE III’S FLUTE PLAYING ACTIVITIES. A profitable relationship with the flourishing music publishing trade was quickly established in both London and Paris and the operatic compositions he staged in London were a huge success. Bach and his roommate Abel also established a series of concerts that were to have a lasting impact on the concert life of London, and even Mozart expressed his admiration for this son of Johann Sebastian Bach.
