Chocolate

If there's one thing you can count on with Ether Game, it's that we'll introduce you to some unusual holidays. September 13th, for instance, is International Chocolate Day, so this week we're saluting the confectionery treat with a show we're calling "Chocolate."

Did you know..

  •  In the film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, the character Willy Wonka plays the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a "musical lock" to open the door to the Chocolate Room. Although the character Mrs. Teevee confidently misidentifies the composer as Rachmaninoff!
  • Antonin Dvorak performed at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. At this same World's Fair, a young Milton S. Hershey purchased the European chocolate-making equipment upon which he built his chocolate empire!
  • Oscar Straus's 1909 operetta The Chocolate Soldier is based on the play Arms And The Man by George Bernard Shaw. Although the 1941 film The Chocolate Soldier is not based on either the operetta OR the play, despite using Straus's melodies from the operetta.
