I hope that it means that Indiana will realize that using property taxes as the basis for education or other governmental programs was developed in colonial days and is terribly outdated. Indiana has to look at three types of taxes to fund education, state government, and local government. These would be: sales taxes; income taxes; and use taxes. Property taxes were responsible for giving superior educations to the children in suburbs and miserable educations to inner city children. Stupid and unfair. The State's pathetic attempt to “reassess” property in the last decade forced many people, particularly retired persons, to have to either lose or give up their homes. WRONG! I hope this will force our “leaders” to reassess their methods.
