Yet another egg recall hit the news this week, this one from Ohio. In Israel, activists are ramping up efforts to expose inhumane conditions in large egg farms.
Everything from the weather to a contamination in an ingredient in their chicken feed was blamed for the nationwide salmonella outbreak at the Iowa egg farm.
The FDA filed some gruesome sanitation reports this week of the farms found to be sources of the recent spike in salmonella-related illnesses.
Recent expansion of the egg recall to include half a billion eggs sparks criticism of the current state of the U.S. egg industry.
An Iowa egg producer announced its voluntary recall of 288 million eggs from eight states due to a spike in reported Salmonella outbreaks.
