Organic Milk Shortage Felt Nationwide

Demand for organic milk is growing, however supply is not.

The organic milk shortage has hit the Southeast coast the hardest, but consumers are feeling it nationwide.

So why is there not enough organic milk to go around? The answer lies in feed -- organic grain and hay prices have risen drastically; however the price of milk hasn't.

To make ends meet, organic farmers are feeding their cows less, resulting in less milk. The next step is a jump in the price of organic milk, already higher than the conventional kind.
