Food Co-ops Try To Keep Up, DIY Root Beer, Learn To Grow It

For many years, if we wanted to do that, we had to go find a natural and organic retail store, because there was very little in the conventional space. Today, if we want to make that decision, make different choices in the groceries we buy, we don't have to leave Kroger. It's already there.


CE Pugh of the National Co-op Grocers. He talks about the state of co-op groceries in the U.S. and how increased competition from conventional stores is offering a unique set of challenges.

From Harvest Public Media, we visit a food pantry that offers food assistance and gardening classes.

And couple recipes for us as well… Chef Daniel Orr plucks some squash flowers from his garden and stuffs them with cheese and anchovies before tossing them in the frier.
