Our writing circles are structured to guide individuals, many of whom struggle to find their voice in our society, to use writing as a tool for exploration and healing. – Beth Lodge-Rigal, Creative Director

Writing for a Change Foundation of Bloomington creates opportunities for individuals to express their voices in a safe environment. From youth programming to outreach in jails, Writing for a Change uses self-expression to empower and strengthen the community.

Creative Director Beth Lodge-Rigal says, “We have a hope that a space is created that truth can come forward and that people in telling the truth about their lives in what ever form that comes forward, poetry song, fiction, for some people, that there is a way that this connects people to one another.”

The nonprofit organization is host to writing circles at the Poplar Grove Schoolhouse. Adults are welcome to attend these sessions.  Through the act of creating and sharing, Writing for a Change Foundation believes participants will find support and can experience a transformation.
