Although Down Syndrome Family Connection focuses on people with Down syndrome and their caregivers, the organization has opened itself to families with other disabilities and health care needs that haven't been able to find support elsewhere.

Down Syndrome Family Connection works to bring together families in south central Indiana, with the goal of promoting greater acceptance and understanding of Down syndrome.

The organization also works “to educate, inform and involve all people to recognize the uniqueness and capabilities of individuals with Down syndrome and the inherent dignity of all people with developmental disabilities,” and, according to their mission statement, “to provide education and support for communities, families and individuals living, learning, and growing with Down syndrome.”

Down Syndrome Family Connection works to fulfill their mission by connecting families to one another to provide a network of support and understanding.

The Family Connection also sponsors the Bloomington Buddy Walk, special events such as a woman’s night out, and a yearly calendar featuring people of all ages with Down syndrome.
