"The Welcome Table" Returns

The musical and dance event The Welcome Table is a bright spot in the dark of winter. Composers and musicians Malcolm Dalglish, Moira Smiley and Joshua Kartes will bring original songs 'to the table.'

Highlights From The Interview

Dalglish talked about bringing Smiley and Kartes back to Bloomington from the two coasts for the show. "We're delighted to have them, in part because so much of their music was formed and grew here. It's a very organic thing."

Choreography for The Welcome Table is by Abby Ladin. The dance is 'an organic thing' as well. "I've been associated with music and dance in the area," Ladin says, "and I have a real family connection. My sister Evie, was responsible for some of the early choreography for editions of the vocal group, the Ooolites."

Malcolm goes on to talk about the show's finale: "We'll be singing 'Pie R Pie' and leading a raucous vocal march down to the B-Town Trail and the Farmer's Market area. Bloomingfoods will have pie and warm libations. There will be a bonfire as we warm and light the cold dark of winter."
