A Place For Film - Women On Film With @mysexprofessor

Joan Crawford as Mildred Pierce

Episode 78 - Women On Film With Dr. Debby Herbenick And Chelsey McKrill

On this week's episode, we're inviting Dr. Debby Herbenick and student filmmaker Chelsey McKrill back to the show to talk about how women are portrayed in film: the performances they liked, loved and hated, and what new kinds of roles women are filling on film.

We start out with What Have You Seen Lately and Jason is covering 21 Jump Street and introducing a new movie game he came up with: the 10 minute rule. He will watch any movie on Netflix for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, he decides whether or not to complete the movie. It led to a lot of interesting choices this week. Andy took some recommendations from our past couple of guests and saw Mildred Pierce and Black Narcissus, a Michael Powell film.

We then get into our discussion of women on film. In addition to talking about our favorite female characters and actresses. Chelsey discusses the Bechdel Test, while Debby discusses female portrayals she has a hard time watching.

It was a fun and thought provoking discussion, and we hope you enjoy.
