Clips of Faith
Outdoor short film festival and beer tasting at Bryan Park.
Friday, June 8 at 8pm
Bloomington’s Center for Sustainable Living is hoping to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives and, just as importantly, money at this weekend’s Clips of Faith Film Festival.
The Center will receive the proceeds from the sale of beer provided by New Belgium Brewing Company, which sponsors the touring festival of 20 short films.
Last year the Center for Sustainable Living raised $3,400 at the Clips of Faith festival, which it used to help start the Bike Project’s second space along the B-Line trail.
CSL spokesperson Michael Lindeau says that as part of the event’s sustainability focus, the Center will provide bike valet service.
“We hope everybody that can will ride their bicycle to the event, and we have people on site who can park your bike and get your bike back,” Lindeau says.
City Community Events Manager Becky Barrick-Higgins says that even though there’s beer, the films are the focus and the event will be family-friendly.
“It builds a little bit, and then you start watching the movies and it takes the tone right down and everybody leaves. It’s not like what you think at all when you think ‘oh they’re having beer in the park.’ It’s not like that at all. It’s very controlled and very well orchestrated,” Barrick-Higgins says.
The short films are selected from submissions to New Belgium Brewing. Lindeau describes their focus as being, “bicycle advocacy, sustainability, and fun!”
The Clips of Faith film festival is set for 8pm this Friday at Bryan Park in Bloomington. Films start at dusk.
