Scientists manipulated the H5N1 virus, and found that, with just a few genetic mutations, it could be passed from one ferret to another through a sneeze.
Now you can get a flu vaccine without getting a shot. Instead, you can get the flu mist. Like nasal spray, but you get weakened flu viruses up your nose.
What we call “the flu bug” is really many different viruses. There are two main families: A and B, and both have many individual members, like Influenza A-Moscow, Influenza A-Panama and Influenza B-Sichuan.
