If you enjoy gardening, you know how much it can cost to keep your plants alive. You also know how frustrating it is when an unexpected frost destroys them.
Honeybees make propolis by collecting the secretions of trees and other plants where they live; thus the make-up of propolis varies depending on the plant life around. Researchers have found the propolis of Brazilian honeybees to be particularly potent when it comes to protecting teeth.
There is a war going on between a certain tropical butterfly, Heliconius sara, and its only food source, the passion vine. This war involves chemical warfare. More precisely, the plant arms itself with cyanide bombs that are rather useful in getting rid of most insect pests.
