A Moment of Science
Most people endure acne at some point, and can't wait to be rid of the combination of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and pustules.
As a boy goes through adolescence, his secondary sex characteristics develop. One of these characteristics is the rapid growth of the larynx and vocal cords. A boy’s voice deepens as his larynx develops because the bigger the vocal cords, the deeper the voice.
Ironically, the general covering of our bodies in hair — what we call “fur” on other animals — is at the root of our problem with acne.
This Moment of Science will answer a question that must have been gnawing at you since you first noticed that human males have nipples.
