Many listeners spoke — and WFIU listened!
After taking in the comments that hundreds of audience members have sent our way over the last several weeks, we are bringing back the great majority of the programs we cancelled this summer, and to which our listeners proved most loyal.
Opera will be back on Saturday afternoons, preceded by an expanded, one-hour version of Says You!. (The Metropolitan Opera will be heard on WFIU when its new season begins in December.) Pipedreams rejoins the lineup, Monday nights at 10. Music programming returns to Sunday afternoons, with Harmonia at noon, followed by With Heart and Voice and The Score. Sunday nights again will feature an orchestra, with the New York Philharmonic back on the schedule at 8, after Sound Medicine and Profiles.
The changes will take effect over the weekend of October 5.
Also in response to listener feedback, Thistle and Shamrock will stay on Saturday nights, but will move back to its familiar hour of 9 o’clock, immediately preceded by Folk Sampler.
We truly appreciate having heard so many listener remarks, whether complaints or praise, over the last couple of months. To us, it’s proof that our audience is passionately engaged. Please keep the comments coming our way, through our site and by email. Most of our lineup changes are shifting back for now, but the conversation about what WFIU means to the community continues.
