Will Murphy most recently served as President and General Manager of Northeast Indiana Public Radio in Fort Wayne.
WFIU is pleased to announce that Will Murphy has been hired as Station Operations Director.
As Station Operations Director, Murphy will be responsible for WFIU’s daily operations and program production, including overseeing programming decisions; production of local programs such as Artworks, Night Lights and Harmonia; and station marketing and outreach.
Murphy comes to WFIU from Northeast Indiana Public Radio in Ft. Wayne, where he has served as General Manager since early 2011. Prior, he spent two years as General Manager for WFHB community radio in Bloomington. Murphy served as WFIU’s news director for seven years, from 2000-2007.
Murphy’s “knowledge of our coverage area and his planning skills and judgment will help the station continue to prepare for changing listener habits and use of technology,” says Perry Metz, Radio-TV Services General Manager. “We hope to position the station well for the next decades of service to southern and central Indiana.”
“I am extremely excited about returning to Bloomington and to WFIU,” Murphy says. “I have a long-standing affection for the station dating back to my first days in Bloomington in 1994. It’s a great station with wonderful people and a national reputation.”
