WFIU will bring you the inaugural State of Higher Education address, delivered by Indiana Higher Education Commissioner Teresa Lubbers, on Thursday, January 10, at 7 p.m.
Only a third of Hoosier adults have completed post-secondary education; only ten states currently rank lower than Indiana. The Commission has set the goal by 2025 of increasing the proportion of Hoosiers with an advanced degree or higher-education credential to 60 percent.
Lubbers will cite the need for the state, Indiana colleges, and students to share the responsibility of maximizing the return on investment in higher education. Following Lubbers’ half-hour of remarks, representatives from Indiana business, community, education and government will participate in a half-hour response panel discussion.
Here are the scheduled panelists:
-Business: Kevin Brinegar, President and CEO, Indiana Chamber of Commerce
-Community: Bill Stanczykiewicz, President and CEO, Indiana Youth Institute
-Education: Beverly Pitts, President Emeritus, University of Indianapolis
-Government: Representative Robert Behning, Chairman, House Education Committee
