Michael McRobbie, the President of Indiana University, is taking a third spin at guest-hosting WFIU’s “Just You and Me” today, Wednesday, January 18, from 3:30 to 5.
In March, 2010, President McRobbie was a guest DJ on one of the Friday rock-oriented programs, spinning favorites from his college years, including tunes by The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, and Led Zeppelin.
The year before in April, he dropped by the WFIU studios to share jazz tracks by artists including David Baker, the Indiana- and IU-linked artist who also joined in as a special guest.
Today, he is expected to play jazz by John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Maria Schneider, Keith Jarrett, and others.
“President McRobbie is an astute and savvy jazz fan whose selections are always interesting and show a remarkable depth of knowledge about the music,” said WFIU jazz director and “Just You and Me” host David Brent Johnson. “Given the highly regarded status of the IU Jacobs School of Music and David Baker’s jazz studies program, it’s a blessing to have a leader of the university who has such a profound appreciation for the musical art forms that we feature on WFIU. Any time he sits in to DJ, he’s a tough act to follow!”
