The Says You! programs recorded in Bloomington in May are finding their way to the public radio airwaves nationwide in June!
Host and producer Richard Sher says the more than 50 stations across America that air Says You! will be airing the Bloomington shows over the first three full weekends in June. On WFIU, the shows recorded at the sold-out Buskirk-Chumley Theater on May 3 will air at noon on Saturday, June 7 and June 14; and the May 4 taping at Auer Hall is scheduled for broadcast at noon on Saturday, June 21.
Sher touted the Bloomington shows as “Hoosier Dada — Abstract Wit and Wordplay from Says You!.” Sher and his panelists, which that weekend included WFIU’s Will Murphy and City of Bloomington arts administrator Miah Michaelson, delivered the program’s signature wit and whimsy, bluff and bluster.
Says You! is a simple game with words played by two three-person teams in front of live, enthusiastic audiences. For nearly two decades the program has offered listeners the best quips, quotes, and questions that public radio has to offer, all scored to the rhythms of musical guest performers.
Dozens of categories pique your curiosity, among them Cryptic Puns, What’s the Difference, and Odd Man Out. At the core of the game are the bluffing rounds where three definitions are given for a mystery word, only one of which is the true meaning.
Says You! airs on WFIU at noon every Saturday. Because of strong listener support, WFIU last year expanded the weekly program from 30 minutes to an hour. Find out more about the program at the Says You! website.
